Friends of BJP Events in Mumbai and Pune

Saturday’s events in Mumbai and Pune were attended by about 1,500 people (650+ in Mumbai, and 850+ in Pune). This is a great start for the Friends of BJP Outreach programme and we are looking forward to doing more such events in other cities in March and April. An excerpt from a Hindustan Times article which quotes me:

A group of professionals, entrepreneurs and young citizens has come together to form ‘Friends of BJP’, a national initiative that aims to counter voter apathy and believes that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a better alternative to lead the government at the Centre….The idea took shape when some of the founder members were discussing the party’s plans to launch an SMS campaign. “We have all been silent supporters but these elections we felt there was a need to do something different,” said 42-year-old Rajesh Jain, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and Columbia University, New York. The endeavour is hoping that people will actively get involved to bring about change.

Postscript: I did the travel between Mumbai and Pune three times in a single day on Saturday — going from Pune to Mumbai (after attending my cousin’s marriage the previous day) early morning for the Mumbai event, then coming to Pune in the evening, and then returning back to Mumbai at night. Must be some sort of record!
