Rafat Ali writes after a visit to India:
Emerging Markets | PermaLink
Technology is such a leveler here, and is bringing so many economic changes that it is a shame that we in U.S. can only boast about how iPod changed our lives.Ask the farmers of India who are using simple voice technology (well, cellphones) to cut out the middleman (and yes, it is always a man here) out of the agricultural selling and procurement process. People are getting informed, and for once, can take informed decisions about their livelihood. This is the real revolution here, not just the metro-big-cities based outsourcing that we all hear and read about in the media in U.S. and Europe.
The time to invest in India, if you are interested, is now. Both on general technology level, and more specifically in mobile and online media (in that order) here. What we consider content (entertainment and news oriented) in U.S. is not necessarily what will work here. Informational services which help people make decisions and cut out the middleman…that is where the huge opportunity lies. Anyway, I can go on and on, but make a trip here if you want to get the real feel of the changes here.
Yes, I agree with Rafat Ali. I just visited India and found amazing change in recent years.
In India, Farmers are having more production than ever,
Workers are having more work than ever,
Grocery stores are having more delivery orders than ever,
Government has faster moving approved files than ever,
People are having out of box thinking than ever,
Civilians are having more busy hours than ever –
So businesses, careers and entertainment groups are having more power than ever.
No body cares if you visit as NRE in India as they get everything what we get here except you give them business opportunities and obviously gifts L.
à Mobile industry has developed business, awareness in public, new age's business strategy and close integrated communication for personal, business and advertisement group. SMS technology ( free ) rocks here and businesses are getting benefited.
à Financial Industry has grown-up high and recognized by people than ever before. Rates are extremely stable so volumes of transactions are very high. A person in India gets money from financial industry easily and keep moving rather than waiting on such time and mercy of someone as it was in ancient India. I bet financial institutes will grow even faster than today - looking to 1.3 billion population, education awareness and outsourcing. I won’t be surprised if India will move to 3rd largest economy in next 10 years.
à Read in article “The Indian pharmaceutical industry at $6.5 billion and growing at 8-10% annually, is the 4th largest pharmaceutical industry in the world, and is expected to be worth of $12 billion by 2008”. – All well developed cities will have option to grow this industry as it can grow anywhere.
à India attracted more of the Fortune 500 compared to China. Why? India has developed infrastructure, education awareness, world-class recognition in IT, biotechnologies and space, world largest English speaking nation and lots more.
So, its time to invest, move forward with new era of businesses…. And lots more.
